Seva · Selfless service
Volunteering is
an act of love.
Seva means giving your time without expecting anything back. Every hamper packed and every plate of langar served in Edmonton says the same thing: the same Light lives in all of us, and everyone deserves a seat at the table.
- Seva is the teachingSelfless service is how Sikh faith is lived, not just believed.
- Everyone sits as equalsWhoever serves and whoever eats share the same table.
- It builds communityConnections made over a meal outlast the meal itself.

Common questions
Do I need any experience?
No. No experience is needed — you will work alongside our team, and every task can be learned on the day.
How much time do I need to give?
As much as you can. One Sunday helps, and there is no minimum — no commitment is too small.
Can I bring family or friends?
Yes. Serving together is part of the spirit of seva — let us know how many are coming so we can plan tasks.
I can’t volunteer in person. How else can I help?
A donation covers the cost of langar and groceries, and we share our financials on request. You can also help by telling others about the food bank.
